Blowing Rock Conference Center has teamed with Blue Ridge Learning Centers, Inc for a Team Building and Ropes Course Program, to be called Discovery Course. Blue Ridge Learning Center Inc, uses active learning to move beyond team bonding to real team learning. Using simulations (group interactions, initiatives and challenge courses) that model real-world challenges, participants will examine the structures that influence behavior. Their team building programs are designed to be fun, engaging and relevant to what your team is working on, while developing skills that bring about real change and allowing for sensitive areas to come to the surface in productive ways. WHERE: Blowing Rock Conference Center (Activity Field) WHEN: Year-Round Programs available for half day, full day or multi-day. WHO: Adults and youth. Excellent tool for empowering groups who will be working together on a mission or service projects. Also a valuable program for newly formed groups or groups who are not functioning efficiently as a team. WHAT: The program will involve a progression from easier,
less committing activities to challenges requiring more group trust and
cooperation.
Initiatives: Groups will get to know each other better at they participate in various games and activities that ask them to cooperate to achieve a stated goal. Various props may be used in the facilitation of activities, providing a fun and active way to practice leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills, and effective communication. Group Interactions Course (Low Ropes): Participants engage in concrete activities that transfer to new situations in the real world. Using constructed props on the ground level, groups improve their ability to plan, solve problems, make decisions and communicated effectively among themselves as they participate in various group challenges. Through these fun activities, participants will explore different roles within a group and appreciate the importance of this diversity. High Ropes Course: The HRC offers participants a unique chance for individual challenge in a supportive and non-threatening environment. Moving through obstacles high up in the trees, for some the challenge may be physical, for others it may be mental or emotional. For all of us, though, stepping beyond our "comfort zone" and realizing success is a very empowering experience. Safe risk-taking leads to growth and improved self-confidence.
