The Century Club

Blowing Rock Conference Center's Century is made up of individuals or organizations who have agreed to annually donate $100.00 or more to help fund capital improvement projects at BRCC. Each year a new project that will benefit our guests is chosen by BRCC's Board of Directors in consultation with the Century Club. Since 2004, the Century Club projects have focused on accessibility, beautification and major improvement to the site such as:

  • New Main Entrance road
  • Lobby Restroom Remodel
  • New sidewalks and landscaping
  • Entrance and building signs
  • Staging and Sound Systems
  • Gathering Place Remodel
  • Dining Room Tables/Chairs/Carpet
  • Upper Shuford Remodel

To take the first step in joining the Century Club, pick which level suits you best:

Donate to Special Days for Special People
The first “Special Days” program was in the summer of 1979.  They had 30 clients and about 10 chaperones.  For the last 39 years the Blowing Rock Conference Center has conducted “Special Days” each June. The camp is for adults (18 years and up) with developmental disabilities. The participants are required to have caregivers to attend the event with them. This year we hosted 85 participants. We had 18 volunteers.  Each of the Group Homes tells me the same thing every year: their folks come back saying they can’t wait until next year. When I visit any of them, that is the first thing they tell me - we're coming to camp in June.  Our desire is for the program to be a yearlong memory.

Rev. Lynne Hinton, our volunteer worship and event leader for the past twenty years, begins each day with devotions designed around our participants. Next  year our theme will be “Safari into God's Grand Kingdom”. It will begin on Monday, July 16th and end on Thursday, July 20th.  For many this is the only church experience that is geared directly to their community.

Due to the Federal and state budget cuts even more Group Home’s funding has been drastically reduced.  Our goal is to be proactive and strive to fund at least two people for each group home. The cost has remained at $185.00 per person for the last 6 years. It includes Monday Dinner to Thursday breakfast and all activities. We make crafts, everyone who wishes may participate in the Talent Show, we have groups volunteer and entertain for us, and close out with a dance.  Please check out those photos below.

We appreciate any donation, whether it be a scholarship for a participant, or a donation towards the programming expenses. Your donation is tax deductible and will be greatly appreciated.
